School may be just around the corner, but don’t be’s still summer, and this year is all about dressing breezy while still looking chic! Thanks to folklore style, this look can be accomplished with ease and poise.

When I first picture folklore I think of men in sombreros and ladies in technicolor and mix-matched dresses, but this style has recently made a resurgence! It is a more polished style than bohemian, as it incorporates a bit of ethnic flair with embroidery, embellishment, and bright colors. The silhouettes of this style are so effortless, polished, breezy, and unique that you won’t be able to resist these pieces rooted in Mexican heritage! Here are some of my favorite folk-inspired pieces from the boutique with tips on how to style each one…Enjoy!

Dusty Blue Aztec Shift Dress

My personal favorite! This dress is fun, unique, and will certainly make a statement. The embroidery is absolutely adorable and exemplifies the folklore style perfectly! Take note from the picture above and style it with a felted fedora or black panama hat. If a hat isn’t quite your thing, dress it up a bit with a western-style or layered necklace like the coin necklace pictured. Sandals or booties will top off the look, and you can even pair it with wedges for a night out!

Boho Bell Sleeve Romper

The embroidery, tassels, and bell sleeves on this romper create a mix between boho babe and folklore chic style! Bell-shaped sleeves are another hip trend I think we’ll be seeing more and more of, so you’ll surely be a trendsetter sporting this. The v-shaped neckline gives you a chance to pair a bold necklace (try silver or gold) with it if you desire to do so. Finally, strappy or embellished sandals will top this off easily and give you an effortless look!

Navy Off Shoulder Tunic Dress

I still can’t get enough of off-the-shoulder pieces! This dress especially is so flattering, and you can even wear it up on the shoulders for a more peasant dress look. Either way it’s worn, clearly this dress will be the envy of all your friends! The floral print, lace trim, and ruffled neckline play into elements of folk style. I love this dress with white tassel earrings and gold bracelets or a cuff. This can easily be worn during the day or dressed up at night. What’s not to love?!

These pieces are only a few of those inspired by the breezy folk-inspired trend. Be sure to shop Lexington Avenue Boutique for some more pieces we know you'll love! Happy summer!
